The vehicle chassis is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of bodyweight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to loads up to 3 times greater than the other. This causes considerable chassis twisting, deformation and torsional loads on the bodywork, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front lower brace helps increase the stiffness of this part of the chassis and limit its twisting.
