The car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest stress during driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or intense acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This results in significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis during cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
