The vehicle chassis is exposed to significant loads during fast driving, particularly due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking and intense acceleration.
During cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater deformation and twisting of the body or chassis, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The front lower brace helps connect the mounting points and limit flexing of this part of the bodywork.
