The vehicle body is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident when the vehicle’s weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When weight is transferred through a corner, one side of the vehicle can be subjected to a force up to three times greater than the other. This causes significant twisting and deformation of the body, which can consequently lead to the tyres losing grip.
Twisting and deformation of the body while cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
