A vehicle’s body shell is subjected to the greatest loads while driving, particularly due to weight transfer during fast cornering, hard braking and acceleration.
When driving through a corner, the force on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than on the other. This causes significant deformation and twisting of the body shell, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis twisting and deformation when driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
