The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident when the body’s weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer while cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This can result in considerable chassis twisting, bodywork deformation and torsional movements that cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting while cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
