The vehicle body is the part of the vehicle that is subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This can cause severe twisting and deformation of the body and consequently a loss of tyre grip.
Deformation and twisting of the body while cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
