The vehicle body is the part subjected to the greatest stress during dynamic driving. High loads occur mainly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, hard braking and acceleration.
When driving through a corner, the transfer of weight can cause up to three times more force on one side of the vehicle than on the other. This causes significant twisting and bending of the body, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Twisting and deformation of the chassis when driving through corners can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
