The car body is the part of the vehicle subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or intense acceleration.

When cornering, the transfer of mass to one side of the vehicle can result in up to three times more force being placed on one side than the other. This creates significant loads on the body, causing it to twist and deform, which results in the tyres losing grip.

Chassis twisting and deformation while driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
