A vehicle’s suspension is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In certain cases, weight transfer in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This results in significant deformation and twisting of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the suspension in corners can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
