The car body is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This results in pronounced chassis twisting and body deformation, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting in corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
