The vehicle chassis is subjected to significant loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, one side of the vehicle can experience up to three times more force than the other. This causes excessive twisting of the chassis or deformation of the body, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Twisting and deformation of the chassis while driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
