The car chassis is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of the body’s mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In some cases, the transfer of mass during cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. The result is severe chassis twisting, body deformation and loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
