The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, hard braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This can result in significant flexing and twisting of the chassis or body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting while cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
The rear chassis brace is designed to provide additional rigidity to the rear of the body.
