The vehicle chassis is exposed to significant loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to loads up to three times greater than the other. This results in chassis or body flex and twisting, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear lower brace helps increase the stiffness of the lower chassis section and limit its twisting.
