The vehicle chassis is one of the components most heavily affected by the driver’s driving style. It is particularly stressed when the vehicle’s body weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more load than the other. This causes considerable chassis flex, or deformation and torsional twisting of the body, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The rear lower chassis brace helps reduce unwanted body movement and improve the vehicle’s responsiveness and stability.
