A car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This can result in significant chassis flex, or deformation and torsion of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and chassis flex in corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The rear lower chassis brace helps increase body rigidity in the mounting area.
