Would you like more power from your turbocharged MINI R55–R61, Citroën DS3–DS4 or Peugeot RCZ, while also reducing the load on the turbocharger and surrounding components? Then this Bull-X product is an excellent place to start.
The downpipe has a major influence on response and power. It forms the link between the turbocharger and the exhaust system. The larger the pipe diameter and the greater the catalytic converter flow rate, the more easily the turbocharger can discharge the processed exhaust gases through the exhaust system. This has a positive effect on torque and power.
This downpipe is made entirely in Germany and is hand-fabricated using the TIG welding process.
Advantages at a glance:
- the turbocharger can discharge exhaust gases more easily, resulting in increased power;
- more torque, as the turbocharger reaches operating speed more quickly and is subject to less exhaust back pressure;
- also suitable for use with the original exhaust system;
- lower exhaust gas temperatures, reducing the load on the exhaust manifold and turbocharger.
Available versions include a catless option, a 100-cell or 200-cell sports catalytic converter, and an HJS sports catalytic converter with ECE approval.
Soundplus: 70 mm pipe diameter.
Road use: Only the version with the EG/ECE-approved HJS catalytic converter is permitted for road use. Versions without a catalytic converter and versions with 100-cell or 200-cell sports catalytic converters without ECE approval are intended exclusively for use on a race circuit.
Catalytic converter information
When selecting a catless downpipe or one with a 100-cell or 200-cell catalytic converter, the engine control unit may register a fault from the post-catalytic-converter lambda sensor. This does not affect driving behaviour, as the first lambda sensor, which is used for engine control, remains in place. The post-catalytic-converter sensor is only used to monitor catalytic converter operation.
The fault can be removed by adapting the software by a specialist in engine control unit tuning. Most vehicles up to Euro 3 emissions standard do not have a post-catalytic-converter lambda sensor, allowing installation without further software adjustment or a fault message.
HJS ECE and EOBD sports catalytic converters have a considerably higher active coating content and a very high oxygen storage capacity, which can prevent fault messages. The EOBD catalytic converters have been tested for this purpose up to Euro 4. Their durability and use are also suitable up to Euro 6 emissions standard.
On Euro 5/6 vehicles, the points mentioned above can only be avoided by selecting a catalytic converter with ECE approval.
Suitable for: Citroën DS3 I (S/S), Citroën DS4 I (N), MINI Mini Clubman I (R55), MINI Mini Convertible II (R57), MINI Mini Countryman I (R60), MINI Mini Coupe I (R58), MINI Mini Paceman I (R61), MINI Mini Roadster I (R59), MINI Mini II (R56), Peugeot Rcz I (4J).
