The HG Motorsport downpipe for VAG 1.8T models is a direct replacement for the standard part. Precise fitment and high-quality materials allow straightforward installation. Optimising the diameter, pipe routing and/or catalytic converter can significantly reduce the load on the turbocharger. Lower back pressure and reduced thermal load provide a noticeable increase in torque and power, sharper response and improved service life.

Catalytic converter information
When selecting a downpipe without a catalytic converter or with a 100-cell or 200-cell catalytic converter, the engine control unit may register a fault from the post-catalytic-converter lambda sensor. This does not affect drivability, as the first lambda sensor responsible for engine management remains fitted. The post-catalytic-converter sensor only monitors catalytic converter efficiency.
Most vehicles meeting Euro 3 emissions standard or below do not have a post-catalytic-converter lambda sensor, so installation is possible without further adjustment or a fault message.
HJS ECE and EOBD catalytic converters have a considerably higher washcoat content and very high oxygen-storage capacity, which can prevent fault messages. The EOBD catalytic converters have been tested for this issue up to Euro 4. Their durability and use are also suitable up to Euro 6 emissions standard. On Euro 5/6 vehicles, the points above can only be avoided by selecting an ECE-approved catalytic converter.
Road use: Versions with a decat pipe or 100-cell or 200-cell catalytic converters without EG/ECE approval are intended for use on the racetrack only. For legal use on public roads, only the version with an appropriately approved HJS catalytic converter is suitable.
