Looking for increased power from your turbocharged engine while also reducing the load on the turbocharger? Then this Bull-X product is an excellent place to start. Downpipes have a major influence on response and power. They form the link between the turbocharger and the exhaust system. The larger the pipe diameter and the better the flow, the more easily the turbocharger can discharge the processed exhaust gases through the exhaust system. This has a positive effect on torque and power, while also reducing the thermal load on the turbocharger and surrounding components.
Advantages:
- the turbocharger can discharge exhaust gases more easily, resulting in increased power;
- more torque, as the turbocharger reaches speed more quickly and is not held back;
- lower exhaust gas temperatures reduce the load on the exhaust manifold and turbocharger;
- the OEM connections allow plug-and-play installation;
- pipe diameter: 76 mm;
- available with no catalytic converter, a 200-cell sports catalytic converter, a Bull-X 200-cell HJS EOBD sports catalytic converter or a 200-cell HJS sports catalytic converter with ECE approval.
Road use: Only the version with the EG/ECE-approved HJS catalytic converter is suitable for legal use on public roads. Versions without a catalytic converter and versions with other catalytic converters without the appropriate approval are intended solely for track use.
Catalytic converter information
When selecting a downpipe without a catalytic converter or with a 100- or 200-cell catalytic converter, the post-catalytic-converter lambda sensor may trigger a fault in the engine control unit. This does not affect driving operation, as the first lambda sensor remains in place and is responsible for engine management. The post-catalytic-converter sensor is only used to monitor catalytic converter efficiency. The fault can be removed by adapting the software.
Most vehicles with an emissions standard up to Euro 3 do not have a post-catalytic-converter lambda sensor, allowing installation without further adjustment or a fault message. HJS ECE and EOBD catalytic converters have a significantly higher washcoat content and very high oxygen-storage capacity, which can prevent fault messages. The EOBD catalytic converters have been tested for this purpose up to Euro 4. Their durability and use are also suitable up to the Euro 6 emissions standard. On Euro 5/6 vehicles, the issues described above can only be avoided by selecting a catalytic converter with ECE approval.
Suitable for: Ford Focus II (DA), Volvo C30 I (533).
