BULL-X Exhausts produces downpipes to the highest standard. The EGO downpipe from HG Motorsport for VAG 1.8–2.0 TSI can be used as a complete replacement for the standard part. Excellent fitment and high-quality materials make this a premium product. Optimising the diameter, pipe routing and/or catalytic converter can significantly reduce the load on the turbocharger.
On the EGO downpipe, the complete upper section and the lower section up to the flex pipe are manufactured as a single cast piece. After the turbocharger outlet measuring 84 mm, the downpipe expands to a diameter of 121 mm. Flow analyses calculated using a 3D process provide the maximum possible exhaust gas flow that can be achieved with a single cast component. Lower back pressure and reduced thermal load provide a noticeable increase in torque, power and earlier response, while also extending service life.
Technical details
- Upper and lower sections up to the flex pipe manufactured as a single piece from cast stainless steel.
- After the 84 mm turbocharger outlet, the downpipe expands to 121 mm.
- Manufactured from stainless steel.
- Optional integral insulation.
- Available without a catalytic converter, with a 100-cell sports catalytic converter, with a 200-cell sports catalytic converter, with a Bull-X 200-cell EOBD sports catalytic converter by HJS, or with a 200-cell HJS sports catalytic converter with ECE approval.
- Includes a stainless-steel reducer for straightforward fitting to the standard exhaust system.
- Plug and Play fitment to Bull-X exhaust systems.
Road use: The version with the 200-cell HJS sports catalytic converter with ECE approval, or the correspondingly marked approved combination, is intended for use on public roads. Versions without ECE approval, including those without a catalytic converter and those with an unapproved 100- or 200-cell sports catalytic converter, are intended for track use only.
Catalytic converter information
When selecting a downpipe without a catalytic converter or with a 100- or 200-cell catalytic converter, the engine control unit may display a fault from the post-catalytic-converter lambda sensor. This does not restrict vehicle operation, as the first lambda sensor responsible for engine management remains fitted. The post-catalytic-converter sensor is used only to monitor catalytic converter efficiency. The fault can be removed by adapting the software by a specialist engine software tuner.
Most vehicles meeting the Euro 3 emissions standard do not have a post-catalytic-converter sensor, allowing installation without further adaptation or a fault message. HJS ECE and EOBD catalytic converters have a significantly higher Washcoat content and very high oxygen storage capacity, which can prevent fault messages. For this purpose, the EOBD catalytic converters have been tested up to Euro 4. Their durability and use are suitable up to the Euro 6 emissions standard. On Euro 5/6 vehicles, the points above can only be avoided by selecting a catalytic converter with ECE approval.
Suitable for: VW Golf VII (5G1).
