The timing belt idler pulley bracket for 1.8T 20V engines is used when converting the timing belt tensioner from the original hydraulic tensioner to the older mechanical tensioner. By retaining the original idler pulley, it prevents a reduction in belt wrap around the crankshaft pulley. At the same time, it limits excessive belt vibration between the tensioner and idler pulley by retaining the short factory distance between the two pulleys.
The bracket is CNC-machined from 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminium and features rolled threads for increased strength. Various kit stages are available, from Stage 1 to Stage 3.5.

The product is specific to the engine block, not the cylinder head. All 058 and 06A 1.8T cylinder heads use the same tensioner mounting method.
