This EGO-X exhaust system for the BMW F22/F23 235i/240i is hand-fabricated using TIG welding and consists of absorption silencers without chambers. The pipe diameter is 3.5″ (89 mm).

Note: On the 235i, part of the OEM exhaust system must be retained and cut. This is the approximately 50 cm-long section containing the oval flex pipe. The oval OEM pipe has an 83 mm connection diameter where the adapter is fitted. Producing the system from the downpipe in 89 mm is not possible because of the position of the OEM downpipe on the 35i models; this would require the section to be made in 76 mm. That would create an 8 mm smaller cross-section than standard and therefore a restriction.
Note: On vehicles with an OPF, the petrol particulate filter is located underneath the vehicle and integrated into the OEM exhaust system. The OEM exhaust must first be cut behind the OPF, after which the EGO-X exhaust system is fitted at the cut using the adapter pipe and a clamp. On some BMW production batches, the OEM pipe is completely oval, making clamp installation impossible. In this case, the adapter pipe must be welded. The required work takes approximately 15–20 minutes.

With ECE approval
ECE approval applies only when the Bull-X Tronic control unit with ECE approval is selected. With this version, the valve can be controlled via the vehicle’s drive-mode selection or the supplied button. In Sport (Dynamic, Race) mode, the valve remains open while driving within the limits of the ECE regulations and closed when stationary. In Comfort mode, the valve remains closed and opens while driving from 75% throttle opening. The control unit automatically closes the valve in all areas required for ECE approval.
Without ECE approval
Versions operated via a switch, remote control or the Bull-X Tronic “Race” control unit do not have ECE approval and are intended exclusively for use on a race track. If the vehicle has drive-mode selection, it can also be used for control; vehicles without this function use the supplied button. If the Bull-X Tronic control unit is purchased separately, the valve can still be opened while stationary, while during driving the control unit regulates it according to ECE requirements.
Road use: Only the version with the Bull-X Tronic control unit with ECE approval and an EG-approved catalytic converter is intended for lawful use on public roads. All other control-unit and/or catalytic-converter configurations are intended for race-track use only.
Suitable for: BMW 2 I (F22/F23/F45/F46/F87).
