Forge Motorsport baffled sump for VAG 1.8T transverse engines

The baffled sump for the 1.8T engine is an effective upgrade for any race, track or modified car. A blanking plate for the oil level sensor aperture is also included for vehicles without a fitted sensor.

The 1.8T engine has proven highly capable of producing high power while also being very reliable. The key to this reliability is the lubrication system, which can quickly reach its performance limit during fast driving or on the race track, causing oil starvation. Under hard acceleration, braking or cornering, centrifugal forces can briefly move the oil away from the pickup area in the sump. This causes temporary oil starvation in the oil galleries and can damage the bearings and cylinder walls.

For those with an unlimited budget, a dry-sump system is the ideal preventative solution. For everyone else, this carefully designed solution, manufactured using a completely new OE-specification sump, is an excellent alternative. Carefully positioned baffles and oil valves made from Viton allow lubricant to flow freely through the engine while retaining the minimum required amount of oil in the sump even under very high lateral and longitudinal acceleration. The relatively soft Viton plates react much faster than comparable metal flaps often used in lower-quality alternatives, and are also designed for high oil temperatures and operation in the presence of oil contaminants.
