This charge pipe is a direct replacement for the original 5WA 145 840D part and is designed for use with the original intercooler or upgraded intercoolers with a 63 mm diameter inlet.
Forge Motorsport developed a high-flow charge pipe for the 2.0 TSI EA888 EVO4 engine to replace the structurally restrictive original plastic pipe. The pipe outlet measures 63 mm, providing an exact fit to the connection on the original or upgraded intercooler while improving the flow and volume of the charge-air system.
More power means higher boost pressure, so removing restrictions in the charge-air system is essential. During development, Forge Motorsport used 3D scanning and CAD design to improve both the hard pipe and the original rubber hoses, ensuring an exact fit.
The kit uses a mandrel-bent and formed aluminium pipe. The internal diameter increases from 63 mm to 70 mm from the turbocharger outlet to the connection, before narrowing back to 63 mm at the connection to the hot side of the intercooler. The included hoses are made from four-layer silicone with a fluorine lining. A specially designed billet aluminium bracket ensures the correct position after installation.
The new design is suitable for higher boost pressures, provides more efficient airflow and is more durable than the original part. The pipe has a textured black powder-coat finish, while the black silicone hoses retain a discreet engine-bay appearance.
Depending on existing modifications and the level of software tuning, installation may produce different results. The manufacturer states an improvement of approximately 3–5 hp and 5–7 Nm. FMDP3 is a direct replacement for 5WA 145 840D, and the kit includes detailed installation instructions.
