The Forge Motorsport FMTUBL13 heat shield is designed for turbochargers with an external wastegate valve, such as the Garrett GT3071R, GTX3076R, G25-550, KP39 and Comp-RS341. It also fits some turbochargers with an internal wastegate valve, so it is not limited solely to the applications listed.
The shield insulates the turbocharger’s radiant heat and surrounds the hot side of the compressor housing, allowing the cold side to operate more efficiently. The design is intended for use in the most demanding conditions and has been proven to withstand up to 2500 °F or 1370 °C of radiant heat. This helps protect surrounding engine components and extend their service life.
Exhaust gas heat remains contained in the hot side of the turbocharger and away from the cold side and intake path. This can help reduce turbo lag and intake air temperature, resulting in increased power.
After the first few heat cycles, the shield will lose some flexibility as the material hardens. Once installed, do not remove it, as this may damage it.
