Forge Motorsport FMTUBL4 is specifically designed for the standard turbocharger of the Mini R56, and also fits the Peugeot 207 GTI and Peugeot 208 GTI. For the Citroën DS3, it is intended for models built before 2016. The turbo blanket insulates the radiant heat generated by the turbocharger. The standard heat shield on the Mini R56 is inadequate, which can cause the original air intake in the bonnet to deform.
The design is made for the most demanding conditions and has been tested to withstand up to 2500 °F of radiant heat, helping to protect engine components and extend their service life.
Exhaust heat remains contained on the hot side of the turbocharger and away from the cold side and intake tract. This helps reduce turbo lag and intake air temperature, which can improve engine performance.
After the first few heat cycles, the turbo blanket will lose some flexibility as the material hardens. Therefore, do not remove it after installation, as this may damage the blanket.
