Forge Motorsport FMTUBL12 is designed specifically for the Owen Developments GBT-5465-HTA turbocharger equipped with an external wastegate, as used and developed on Forge Motorsport’s Mk1 Golf racing demonstration vehicle.
The blanket also fits Garrett GT2254R, GT2560R, GT2871R, GT286ORS, GTX25/28, TD04 14T, T25G, VF34, VF35 and IGI VQ22 turbochargers. It is also suitable for some turbochargers with an internal wastegate, so the list above is not limiting.
The turbo blanket insulates the radiant heat generated in the turbocharger and insulates the hot side of the turbocharger housing, allowing the cold side to operate at optimum efficiency. The design is intended for use in the most demanding conditions and has been tested to withstand radiant heat up to 2500 °F or 1370 °C. This helps protect and extend the service life of engine components.
Exhaust gas heat remains contained in the hot side of the turbocharger and away from the cold side and intake path. This can help reduce turbo lag and intake air temperature, allowing more power.
Please note that the turbo blanket will lose some of its flexibility during the first few heat cycles as the material cures. Once installed, do not remove it, as this may damage it.
