DV+ T9380 for Volkswagen and Audi models

GFB DV+ T9380 is the latest addition to the GFB (Go Fast Bits) DV+ diverter valve family. It is designed as a complete replacement for the latest-generation original electronic diverter valves in newer Volkswagen and Audi vehicles.

Unlike the older-generation diverter valves, the newer valves cannot be disassembled and installed in the DV+ system. GFB therefore developed the T9380 with an integrated low-profile solenoid as a complete replacement for the latest-generation valves. Installation is simple, with no issues caused by limited available space.

Compared with the original diverter valve, the T9380 DV+ provides:

  • better boost pressure retention;
  • sharper throttle response;
  • faster boost pressure recovery after shifting or briefly lifting off the throttle;
  • long service life.

Better boost pressure retention

Since the introduction of electronic original diverter valves in the mid-2000s, several updates have been made to address reliability issues. Although the latest generations of original diverter valves are more reliable, their design and plastic construction still represent a compromise in terms of performance.

When testing boost pressure leakage from the original diverter valve in a VW Golf R Mk8, GFB engineers found that the leakage was significantly greater than on older generations.

Excessive leakage occurs because diverter valves are increasingly being installed on plastic pipes, separately from the turbocharger, rather than directly on it. The plastic valve mechanism, which closes against a plastic seat, caused the greatest leakage from an original diverter valve ever measured by GFB: 28 l/min at 1 bar of boost pressure.

Even the Viton seal used on all DV+ pistons could not ensure reliable sealing, as the surface of the plastic original seat was too uneven. T9380 successfully solves this issue with a precisely machined piston seat built into the valve body. This design ensures proper sealing even against uneven plastic original valve seats.

Sharper throttle response and faster boost pressure recovery

Factory electronic diverter valves operate in a binary manner – they are either fully open or closed. The throttle does not operate this way. With small changes in throttle position, the binary operation of the original valve causes sudden changes in power delivery, resulting in poorer engine response.

The DV+ valve’s “pilot actuation” system enables the piston to open and close progressively. This smooths power delivery as the throttle position changes and improves engine response.

The combination of precision manufacturing, attention to detail and robust materials ensures a long service life for the DV+ valve.
