GFB VTA is a high-performance blow-off valve for Audi, VW, Škoda and SEAT vehicles with an electronic factory diverter valve.
If you want a distinctive sound together with improved performance, GFB VTA offers both. Based on the proven DV+ design, it combines the benefits of improved operation with atmospheric venting. The result is a distinctive venting sound, improved throttle response, faster boost recovery and more reliable boost retention, even under demanding conditions.
VTA is based on the same design as DV+:
“Keep what works and replace what doesn’t.”
This means it retains the ECU control and solenoid of the original diverter valve, providing the shortest possible response time without additional costs or the need to replace the solenoid.
The weak part of the factory diverter valve is the plastic valve mechanism – this is the exact part replaced in the VTA. The valve uses CNC-machined components made from solid material for a long service life, and its operating method has also been changed for improved performance. The factory diverter valve can operate in only two positions – open or closed. When it opens fully at low boost pressure or opens during partial throttle lift in a corner, it causes greater turbo lag and a noticeably non-linear transition in boost pressure.
With the DV+, GFB introduced the principle of pilot control. This uses the factory solenoid to regulate the pressure behind the piston instead of directly controlling the piston. This allows for a shorter solenoid stroke, faster response and greater activation force. More importantly, the piston opens and closes progressively according to the boost pressure present, smoothing out pressure transitions and reducing the lag caused by the factory diverter valve.
This VTA design provides more effective blow-off valve operation, improved reliability and a distinctive venting sound.
Key features
- TMS technology for faster boost recovery during shifting and throttle application or lift-off
- Improved boost pressure retention
- Atmospheric venting for a distinctive blow-off valve sound
- Retains ECU control
- Simple direct installation; the kit includes everything required for installation
- Made in Australia in accordance with ISO 9001
VTA or DV+?
The choice depends on whether you want sound. Both valves are made from equally high-quality materials and use the same valve mechanism, so they offer the same performance and reliability benefits. VTA vents air to the atmosphere and creates sound, while DV+ recirculates air into the intake system for quieter operation.
Why VTA instead of a BOV spacer?
BOV spacers are inexpensive and create sound, but that is all. All of the factory diverter valve’s operating and reliability issues remain, as the spacer does not change how it operates. VTA improves diverter valve operation while also providing sound and better performance.
Why VTA instead of a solenoid kit?
Replacing the factory solenoid does not provide any performance benefits, only a higher price. If VTA can open with the factory solenoid in a few hundredths of a second, replacing the solenoid is unnecessary.
