VTA T9458 – DV+ performance with a distinctive blow-off sound

VTA is a high-performance blow-off valve solution for Mercedes vehicles with an electronic factory diverter valve.

If you want sound as well as performance, GFB VTA offers both. It combines the proven performance benefits of the DV+ system with atmospheric air discharge, delivering a distinctive blow-off sound, improved throttle response and faster boost recovery, as well as better boost retention and reliability in demanding conditions.

VTA is based on the successful DV+ design:

“Keep what works and replace what doesn’t.”

This means that the factory diverter valve’s ECU control and solenoid are still used for the fastest possible response. This avoids the additional cost of replacing the solenoid, which is required with some other kits.

The weak point of the factory diverter valve is its plastic valve mechanism – this is the part that has been upgraded. VTA uses CNC-machined components made from solid material for long service life, and the valve’s operating method has also been changed for improved performance. The factory diverter valve can operate in only two positions – open or closed. When it fully opens at low boost pressure or when the throttle is partially lifted mid-corner, it causes greater turbo lag and a noticeably non-linear transition in boost pressure.

With the DV+ system, GFB introduced the principle of “pilot control”, in which the factory solenoid is used to control the pressure behind the piston rather than the piston directly. The solenoid therefore has a shorter travel, speeding up response time and increasing activation force. More importantly, the piston opens and closes progressively according to the boost pressure present. This makes boost pressure transitions smoother and reduces the turbo lag caused by the factory diverter valve.

This design is what makes VTA an effective blow-off valve solution that combines performance, sound and reliability.

Key features

  • TMS technology for faster boost recovery during gear changes and changes in throttle position
  • Improved boost retention
  • Atmospheric air discharge for a distinctive blow-off sound
  • Retains ECU control
  • The kit enables simple direct installation and contains everything required for fitting
  • Made in Australia in accordance with ISO 9001

VTA or DV+?

The choice depends on whether you want sound. Both valves are made from equally high-quality materials and use the same valve mechanism, so they offer the same performance and reliability benefits. VTA discharges air into the atmosphere and creates sound, while DV+ returns air to the intake system and therefore operates more quietly.

Why choose VTA instead of a BOV spacer?

BOV spacers are inexpensive and create sound, but that is all. All the factory diverter valve’s performance and reliability issues remain, as the valve spacer does not change anything about it. VTA improves the operation of the diverter valve while also providing sound and improved performance.

Why choose VTA instead of a solenoid kit?

Replacing the factory solenoid does not provide a performance benefit, but only a significantly higher price. If VTA opens with the factory solenoid in a few hundredths of a second, replacing the solenoid as well is unnecessary.
