This HF-Series genuine carbon air intake system for the Golf 8 range with EA888 Gen.4 engines is designed to provide maximum airflow, excellent appearance and an approved configuration.* It also delivers an outstanding intake sound. The intake system is a very important component, because the full potential of the turbocharger and engine can only be used when the entire air path to the turbocharger is optimised.
The kit consists of an upgraded silicone intake hose with the largest possible internal diameter (89 mm/3.5″ at the air filter) and a genuine carbon airbox with increased volume and significantly improved airflow compared with the standard intake system. This is also demonstrated by flow-bench testing, which recorded an impressive increase of +58% or 70%. There is more than enough reserve for larger turbocharger conversions as well.
The filter element is an oiled polymer-foam filter developed specifically for this system, with an 89 mm/3.5″ connection.
This intake system can optionally be combined with the HF-Series turbo inlet, which removes the final restriction or bottleneck at the turbocharger inlet. It is only required for the 245 PS engines, such as those fitted to the GTI. The 300/320 PS engines in models such as the Clubsport and R use a different inlet due to their different turbocharger; this inlet cannot be improved and already operates optimally. This was extensively tested on the flow bench using 9 attempts or prototypes.
To create a particularly clean appearance and avoid an unnecessary bulge in the airbox, the coolant hose has been routed underneath the airbox. SF-Hoses silicone is used here as well. The hose is included in the package.
The additionally available carbon engine cover is manufactured with exactly the same weave structure and alignment, transforming the engine bay into a coordinated carbon environment.
