Racingline MQB top mounts – camber and castor adjustment

Racingline MQB top mounts are precisely manufactured front suspension upgrades for vehicles on the MQB and MQB Evo platforms. They replace the soft factory rubber mounts with solid, machined units and enable more effective wheel alignment adjustment without sacrificing the comfort required for everyday driving. They are compatible with standard OEM suspension, so coilovers are not required for installation.

Top mount function

Top mounts are fitted at the top of the front struts, where the damper connects to the body. Replacing the original mounts with rubber bushes with solid Racingline mounts changes the front wheel geometry in two important ways:

• approximately 1.5° of additional negative camber, or inward inclination of the upper part of the wheel,
• approximately 1.0° of additional castor, or moving the wheel slightly further back in the wheel arch.

Negative camber helps the tyre remain flatter on the road when cornering, improving grip. Castor improves steering stability and the steering wheel’s self-centring. The vehicle is more composed at higher speeds, while the steering wheel returns to centre more naturally. Together, these two changes noticeably improve front-end response, particularly during fast road driving and on the track.

• Better cornering grip – more effective use of the available tyre contact patch under load.
• Better steering feel – more feedback without a noticeably harsher ride.

The mounts are intended for drivers who want to noticeably improve the vehicle’s handling while continuing to use it every day. They are not exclusively a racing component, but they will expose the limitations of cheap or worn tyres more quickly. For the best results, the use of high-quality tyres is recommended.

Compatibility

Racingline MQB top mounts are designed for vehicles on the MQB and MQB Evo platforms with factory or factory-style suspension that uses the original top mount. They are compatible with numerous models from Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, CUPRA and Škoda, including Golf GTI, Golf R, S3, CUPRA and Octavia vRS variants.

Installation and adjustment

As the mounts alter the front wheel geometry, a four-wheel alignment is mandatory after installation. Without correct adjustment, you will not achieve the expected improvement in handling, and tyre wear may be uneven. We recommend installation at a workshop with experience in suspensions for vehicles on the MQB platform.

After correct installation and wheel alignment, the Racingline top mounts retain a clean, original-style appearance and enable geometry adjustment for fast road driving and track use, while remaining suitable for everyday use.
