Racingline intake system for VW Polo V (6R) GTI 1.4 TSI

The Racingline Performance intake system is a direct replacement for the restrictive factory airbox on the VW Polo 6R GTI with the 1.4 TSI Twincharger engine. It supplies the engine with a consistent flow of cooler, denser air through a larger and smoother-flowing path, helping it breathe more easily and respond faster both under boost and off boost.

The factory intake system is one of the major restrictions of the 1.4 TSI engine. The Racingline system, also developed with input from Volkswagen Racing competition vehicles, replaces the original design with a complete kit that draws cold air directly from the front of the engine bay.

Performance and airflow

According to independent dynamometer testing carried out by Racingline, the system provides up to 9% greater airflow at peak power compared with the standard intake system. Turbocharger spool-up time can be reduced by up to 500 rpm in some cases, improving throttle response and the feeling of liveliness throughout the rev range.

TriFoam™ filter technology

At the heart of the system is the Racingline TriFoam™ filter, made from three-layer laminated open-cell polyurethane foam. It provides a good balance between filtration and flow by retaining fine particles without restricting the engine. Each filter is handmade in the United Kingdom, is serviceable and, with regular cleaning and re-oiling, is designed to last the lifetime of the vehicle.

Intake sound

The fully enclosed housing keeps the sound subdued during gentle driving, while clear and pleasant induction sound can be heard under hard acceleration. The system adds some character without becoming intrusive on longer journeys.

Compatibility

This intake system is intended for the VW Polo 6R GTI with the 1.4 TSI Twincharger engine. It is suitable only for the specified engine version.
