Racingline high-flow intake system kit – Polo GTI (6C), Ibiza Cupra (6J) and Audi S1 (8X)

The Racingline high-flow intake system kit is an easy-to-fit kit designed to improve airflow on 1.8 and 2.0 TSI/TFSI engines in the Polo GTI, Ibiza Cupra and Audi S1. It replaces the two most restrictive parts of the factory intake system, allowing the turbocharger to draw in air more easily – both with the standard IS20 turbocharger and the upgraded IS38.

The kit pairs perfectly with the Racingline cold air intake system and is the next step in optimising a standard or modified turbo system.

Kit contents

• High-flow turbo intake elbow – CNC-machined from solid aluminium, with a larger diameter and smoother internal transition than the small and restrictive original plastic part.
• Silicone intake hose – version for the 6C/6J chassis, replacing the ribbed factory plastic hose with a smooth silicone hose offering improved airflow.

Why upgrade the turbo intake elbow?

The factory intake elbow is a narrow plastic elbow with a sharp transition immediately before the air enters the turbocharger. Even when using a high-flow intake system, the air still has to pass through this restrictive part, reducing the effect of the overall upgrade.

The Racingline aluminium elbow increases the internal diameter and smooths the transition, allowing a larger and more even volume of air to reach the turbocharger. Comparative flow tests against the original elbow showed a clear improvement in airflow.

When driving, you can expect:

• quicker turbocharger response and sharper throttle response,
• measurable improvements in power and torque, especially when combined with software optimisation or a larger turbocharger,
• more pronounced intake and turbocharger sound under load.

Compatibility and important notes

The kit is intended for vehicles with the 1.8 TSI engine in the Polo GTI (6C) and Ibiza Cupra (6J), as well as the 2.0 TFSI engine in the Audi S1 (8X).

Important: The kit is currently designed only for right-hand-drive (RHD) vehicles. A version for left-hand-drive (LHD) vehicles is in development. Installation in left-hand-drive vehicles may be possible for some users, but requires a minor modification to the turbo intake elbow.

Note: The kit is designed for use with the Racingline cold air intake system. It is not compatible with the original air filter housing.

Installation

Installation is straightforward and can be carried out with basic tools. The elbow bolts directly into the original part’s location, while the silicone hose replaces the original intake hose and uses the existing mounting points.
