Racingline lowering springs – VW ID.3 and Cupra Born
Racingline lowering springs are a simple upgrade to lower the vehicle and improve the driving characteristics of the VW ID.3 and Cupra Born. They reduce the large factory gaps between the wheel arches and tyres and provide a firmer, more dynamic driving feel, without the cost and complexity of a complete coilover kit.
The ID.3 and Born are fitted from the factory with softer, comfort-oriented springs, which often results in a considerable ride height. Fitting Racingline springs lowers the vehicle by approximately 30 mm at the front and rear. The lower centre of gravity contributes to improved cornering and a more distinctive appearance.
Effect of the springs on the vehicle
- Lower ride height: approximately 30 mm lower at the front and rear for a cleaner, sportier appearance.
- Reduced body roll: the vehicle stays flatter in corners, improving stability and driver confidence.
- More precise steering feel: a more direct and connected response to the driver’s inputs.
- Improved aerodynamics: the lower ride height reduces airflow resistance beneath the vehicle, which can slightly improve efficiency and range.
- Comfort retained: the progressive spring design allows for comfortable everyday driving.
Progressive spring rate
The springs have a progressive spring rate. During normal driving in the middle of the suspension travel, the spring rate remains similar to the standard setup, so driving on everyday roads remains comfortable. During more dynamic driving, such as fast cornering or heavy braking, the springs become firmer towards the end of their travel. This provides a more controlled and sporty feel without making the ride excessively hard or harsh.
Compatibility with standard dampers
Racingline springs are developed for use with the original dampers of the ID.3 and Born. No additional modifications or replacement of other parts are therefore required for installation. This is a standalone upgrade to the standard suspension.
Important after installation
After installation, a four-wheel alignment must be carried out to ensure correct suspension geometry and even tyre wear. This is necessary after every change to the vehicle’s ride height.
Suitable for: Cupra Born I (K1), VW ID 3 I (E11).
Approval
This part has no TÜV certification (ABE, TTG or Teilegutachten).
