The Racingline sports suspension kit is a complete, matched combination of springs and dampers for the Volkswagen Golf VIII GTI. It provides sharper handling, a more purposeful appearance and controlled driving without the harshness that often accompanies upgrades to the standard suspension.

The standard suspension of the Golf VIII GTI is designed as a compromise between sportiness and comfort. Racingline has reduced this compromise with matched sports springs and dampers, whose setup is tailored to the spring rate. The result is a noticeably improved driving feel, suitable both for everyday use and for dynamic driving on winding roads.

Matched spring and damper system

Springs and dampers must work together as a matched system. Fitting lowering springs to standard dampers can cause the vehicle to bounce and accelerate damper wear, as the original units are not designed to control stiffer springs. Racingline developed both components simultaneously. The dampers use a twin-tube design and high-quality oil, which helps prevent loss of performance during prolonged, demanding driving, while the springs are manufactured to tight tolerances for consistent height and spring rate on each axle.

The settings are derived from Racingline’s motorsport programme and were then adapted for road use. The suspension is stable and precise during dynamic driving, while it does not feel excessively firm on poorer surfaces and bumps.

Important compatibility information

The kit is intended for Golf VIII GTI models with standard (passive) suspension. It is not compatible with vehicles equipped with DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control) dampers. If the vehicle is equipped with the DCC system, the kit will not work with the factory control system.

Who is the kit for?

This is a suitable choice for drivers who want to noticeably improve the driving characteristics and appearance of their GTI, but do not need the complexity, firmer operation or adjustability of a full coilover suspension. The kit is intended for a balanced and considered setup, not the lowest possible ride height, as it was developed and tested as a complete system.
