Racingline Turbo Muffler Delete – EA888 Gen.3 engines
Racingline Turbo Muffler Delete is a simple yet effective upgrade designed to remove a known restriction in the intake system of vehicles with the EA888 Gen.3 engine. Made from a single piece of machined aluminium, it replaces the factory turbo muffler with a smooth, straight airflow path, allowing the turbocharger to flow air more efficiently and respond more sharply.
The part is designed for vehicles on the MQB platform with 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TSI EA888 Gen.3 engines and an IHI IS20 or IS38 turbocharger. It fits numerous models from VW, Audi, SEAT and Škoda, including the Golf GTI, Golf R, S3, Leon Cupra and Octavia vRS.
Why replace the factory turbo muffler?
The factory turbo muffler is fitted at the turbocharger compressor outlet. Its only purpose is to reduce the harmonic noise generated by the turbo, making the engine bay quieter from the factory. Its drawback is an internal chamber that creates turbulence in the airflow at a point where smooth, uninterrupted flow is particularly important.
The turbulence acts as a small but genuine restriction, slowing the path of compressed air to the intercooler and intake manifold. Removing the muffler allows compressed air to travel along a straight, clean path, while the turbocharger builds boost pressure more quickly.
