The vehicle chassis is one of the parts subjected to the greatest loads during driving. These loads are caused mainly by the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, the transfer of weight can cause forces on one side of the vehicle to be up to three times greater than on the other side. This causes considerable chassis twisting and body deformation, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
