Racingline carbon fibre rear chassis brace – VW Golf VII, SEAT Leon III and Škoda Octavia III (VWR81G700)
Improve the handling of MQB-platform vehicles with the Racingline carbon fibre rear chassis brace. The brace connects the mounting points at the rear of the chassis and reduces body flex, which is more pronounced in modern hatchbacks such as the Golf VII, Leon III and Octavia III.
MQB-platform vehicles have laser-welded bodies that are very rigid between the front strut towers. The rear section of the chassis flexes noticeably during fast cornering, especially when combined with stiffer sports suspension. Volkswagen also recognised this in the limited-edition Golf Clubsport S, which was already equipped with a rear brace from the factory.
How the brace works
The brace connects the rear suspension mounting points, allowing the suspension to better maintain its intended geometry under load. When the body flexes less, the springs, dampers and bushes can work more effectively, making the drive more precise, responsive and predictable.
- Solid one-piece aluminium mounts are bolted to extremely rigid carbon fibre connecting rods, providing high stiffness with low weight.
- Noticeably more precise turn-in response and a more stable rear end when driving quickly through corners.
- No additional noise, vibration or harsher operation – ride comfort is retained.
- Installation on the existing factory mounting points – no drilling required.
- The installation can be fully returned to its original state.
- Compatible with raised, folded or removed rear seats.
Why it works
The performance of suspension components also depends on the structure to which they are attached. If the body flexes while cornering, the suspension geometry changes and the vehicle behaves unpredictably or feels unsettled. Connecting the rear strut towers with a rigid brace helps keep all components in position, making the chassis behaviour more predictable during fast driving. The difference is most noticeable on vehicles with lowering springs, coilovers or tyres designed for track driving, but it can also be felt during everyday dynamic driving.
Installation notes
Installation of the brace in the Golf is straightforward and uses the existing body mounting points, without removing the interior trim.
Important: On SEAT Leon and Škoda Octavia models, the rear boot trim must be cut to allow the brace to be installed correctly. Racingline includes a template and instructions for this purpose.
Safety warning: The brace must not be used as a mounting point for seat belts or racing harnesses.
