The car body is the part subjected to the greatest stress while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to as much as three times more force than the other. This results in significant stress on the body, as well as twisting and bending, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting in corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace connects the upper mounting points of the front struts and helps increase the rigidity of this part of the body.
