The car body is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of the body’s mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This creates significant bending and torsional loads on the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Flexing and twisting of the chassis during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace helps connect the upper mounting points and increase the rigidity of this section of the body.
