The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest load during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or intense acceleration.
In some cases, the transfer of weight when cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to 3 times more force than the other. This causes greater chassis flex, or deformation and torsion of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and chassis flex during cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
