The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is especially pronounced due to the transfer of the bodywork’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This causes significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or bodywork, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
