The car chassis is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. The result is significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis while driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear brace helps reduce unwanted body flex in the area of the mounting points.
