The car body is subjected to significant loads when cornering at speed, braking hard and accelerating, mainly due to the transfer of the body’s weight.
When cornering, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than on the other. This causes the body to bend, twist and deform, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Body twisting when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear strut brace helps increase body stiffness and limit bending.
