During fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration, the vehicle body is subjected to high loads caused by weight transfer. This transfer of loads can cause the body to bend and twist.
When cornering, one side of the vehicle can be subjected to loads up to 3 times greater than the other. This results in greater body deformation and loss of tyre grip.
Chassis bending and twisting while driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The upper strut brace connects the mounting points at the front of the vehicle and helps increase the rigidity of this area.
