The car body is the part of the vehicle subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is mainly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or intense acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This causes significant twisting and deformation of the body, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The reinforcement is designed to reduce these effects and increase body rigidity.
