The vehicle chassis is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater chassis flex, as well as deformation and torsional twisting of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and chassis flex during cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The brace is designed to increase body rigidity and reduce these effects.
