A car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater deformation and twisting of the chassis or body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The chassis brace helps improve body rigidity and vehicle stability.
